How do no-contract cell phones work?
I know it’s a dumb question but I know that there is no contract obviously and I know they aren’t like prepaid cell phone plans, so then how do minutes and everything else like data and messaging work? I know you have to pay full-price for the phones too. Thanks in advance!

It’s a good Question!! When you buy a phone by paying it’s full price and become it’s owner, you are free to pick a carrier of choice and even switch/migrate to other carriers at will. You get to choose any of their call/messg/data plan by simply giving written instruction for a direct debit (via your debit/credit card) to the carrier or by making a small refundable deposit. Her your monthly charges will be way lower than on-contract.
On-the other hand being on-contract make it really difficult to switch carriers if you need to, because your hand set is on loan with that them. Carriers actually make the bulk of their profits from on contract deals as customers end up paying a whole lot more money than Off-contract customers.
